1923 DELAGE GRAND SPORT/CO2

Year 1923
Body Torpedo by Boulogne S/S
Engine six cylinder OHV, 88HP
Price 80.000€

Delage CO2 was a model produced by the French luxury automobile manufacturer Delage in the early 1920’s. Model was introduced in 1921 as the „Grand Sport” which was in production together with Delage CO model with SV engine. The CO2 was about to replace both in 1923. It was powered by an 88hp robust inline-six overhead-valve engine from the Grand Sport model. Fitted with a cross-flow cylinder head, the engine produced ample power which was transmitted to the rear wheels via four-speed gearbox. With excellent four-wheel brakes it was one of the most technologically advanced cars of the era.

Like many Delage models of that time, the CO2 achieved success in motorsport events, such as Paris-Nice race, which the CO2 completed in 16 hours, at a average speed of 67 km/h.

Offered car has been modified around the IIWW as a fire truck and in 1966 was bought from firefighters in the village of Wittelsheim by Schlumpf brothers, which is well documented, for the sum of 540FrF. The car has been bought by the vendor from Arlette Schlumpf reserve collection sale in 2007. Mechanically complete, solid project includes original torpedo body by Carrosserie de Boulogne S/S, old french title and original rare Delage instruments.
